Statistics released by the search engine Yandex indicates that it is women not met who are building the blogosphere in Russia. The average blogger in the country is female and 22 year old. This group has also matured over the six months, the previous average age being 21. Female bloggers are more likely to keep an online diary for themselves and their friends rather than think about making money.

It’s a different story when it comes to Russian men. They are more money driven and a far higher percentage of men are involved in website advertising schemes, such as Yandex Direct, Google Adsense or domain parking programs. The average domain owner in Runet is 25 years old and according to 1stat.ru, more than 200,000 domain names have been registered for domaining income, rather than to build sites.

Unlike the women, the average age of Russian men online is becoming younger; moving from 28 to 25 over the last three years.
