Yandex’s International or world portal has just added multimedia search. You can now use the search engine to retrieve photos/images and video.
The launch of multimedia search on yandex.com continues the company’s experimental testing of its international search algorithms. Just like text-based search results, multimedia search results on yandex.ru differ from results on yandex.com. Users searching for [macbook pro] on Yandex.Video will see gadget reviews in Russian, while the same query on yandex.com will retrieve only international feedback.
It is important to note that the default results on Yandex.com are different from those on Yandex.ru. Russian users on Yandex.ru now have an opportunity to use this flavour of ‘World’ search or the ‘Russian’ variety. This move should help prevent users switching to rival Google, in search of an international search index.
